Research interests: Archaeobotany, prehistoric agriculture, diet, plant use, Carpology, Anthracology, Southeast Europe, Central Balkans
In my research, I am primarily focused on prehistoric agriculture and the role of plants in the diet and daily life of early Neolithic communities. My focus lies on analyzing carpological (macrobotanical) remains from sites across Southeast Europe, uncovering early farming practices, how agriculture adapted to changing climates, and the economies of prehistoric societies. Beyond that, I explore similar questions for later periods, extending all the way to the Middle Ages. Lately, I’ve been branching out into the field of wood analysis and investigating the use of wild resources in archaeology.
